PSG preparing to beat Arsenal in race to sign highly rated French - TopicsExpress

PSG preparing to beat Arsenal in race to sign highly rated French midfielder Arsenal have developed a bit of a reputation this summer of identifying high profile transfer targets and losing them to other clubs, and the current scenario promises more of the same. According to reports in The Metro, Paris Saint-Germain is the latest club looking to thwart the Gunners’ transfer plans, by plotting an astounding £17 million bid for Newcastle United playmaker Yohan Cabaye. The North Londoners have already had a £10m offer for the Frenchman rejected, and are reportedly working upon an improved bid for him, expected to be in the region of £15m. However, PSG’s offer might sway another high profile name away from Arsene Wenger’s side. It is believed that PSG boss Laurent Blanc is an ardent admirer of Cabaye, and has reportedly requested the board to release funds to land him before the transfer window draws to a close. Even the Magpies would prefer selling their player to the French side, rather than transferring him to their domestic rivals, and the balance of power certainly looks tilted in PSG’s favour. Cabaye had been rather impressive in an otherwise disappointing last season for his club, and has lately, also tickled the interest of English Champions Manchester United, who are themselves desperate for a solid new playmaker this summer.
