PTI Press Release - Nov 5, 2013 In a strongly worded press statement Dr. Arif Alvi MNA from Karachi expressed his deepest condolences for the killing of 9 Shiites in various parts of Karachi yesterday. The Govt of Sindh must ensure full protection for the Shia community to continue with their religious rituals in a peaceful manner and no untoward incident should happen during these very important ten days of Muharram. The police and rangers must ensure that their places of worship are fully protected and full security escort provided to all processions in relations to the respected month of Muharram. Dr Alvi raised this issue also in the PTI parliamentary party meeting where he said that the greatest danger to the Muslim world is sectarian strife which is being engineered by anti Muslim powers and we can see the result in Syria, Iraq, Bahrain and elsewhere. PTI appeals to the people not to fall into this trap as efforts are being made to push peaceful brothers apart. Dr Alvi was confident that Inshallah this will not happen in Pakistan.
