PUTTING THE RECORDS STRAIGHT. Yesterday morning I was confronted with the news saying Okowa picks James manager as a running mate. My initial reaction was not to verify or respond because there was no source; it became pertinent to do so after verifying from the Okowa constituency office, so this response is just to put the records straight. The purported breaking news as reported on social media is not only misleading but also aimed at maliciously furthering the smear campaign by opposition whose political inclination is no longer hidden against the person of Dr Okowa. Contrary to what is being falsely bandied about in the social media NO CANDIDATE HAND PICK A RUNNING MATE WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF THE PARTY AND NOT BEFORE THE PRIMARY ELECTION, as for the claim that Sen. Okowa has been fraternizing with Manager, that is a product of harebrained reasoning, Sen. Dr Okowa as an important member of the Senate and the PDP can maintain contacts with his colleagues and there is nothing special about that, other Senators also interact. The allegation of picking James Manager is not only false in its entirety, it is also a wild, malicious and politically –motivated, episode in a long campaign of calumny by Okowa’s political detractors who are out to destroy his political structure. I hereby advise every body reading this to ignore those detractors and see the breaking news as an empty and hate-filled fabrication. It is disgusting to note that the social media men and opposition have arrogated to themselves the power to decide who run with Okowa, politics is no doubt a game of interests, but such interest should be expressed and pursued within the limits of acceptable norms and decorum. Choosing a running mate for Okowa is taking the game too far. At this juncture, I challenge any to prove where and how Sen. Okowa picks Senator Manager as running mate.
