Packers Clinch Playoff Spot Wtih Win Over Bucs, 20-3 For the sixth straight year, the Green Bay Packers are back in the playoffs after defeating Tampa Bay on Sunday. It was by no means easy going for the offense against the 2-12 Bucs on Sunday. For the second straight game the Packers were held out of the endzone in the first quarter. That changed early in the second quarter. Running back Eddie Lacy got loose in the Tampa Bay secondary, and ripped off a 44 yard touchdown run to put the Packers in front 7-0. Not only would it be the longest run of the season for Lacy, it was also his longest touchdown run of his young career.Another milestone for Lacy came on Sunday against Tampa Bay. For the second straight year, Lacy broke the 1,000 mark in rushing yards. Lacy finished the day with 99 tough yards in the Packers victory.Meanwhile Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers looked to get back to form after a rough outing in Buffalo a week ago. Early on Rodgers was seen talking to trainers on the sidelines after a sack-fumble on the Packers first drive. That didnt phase the MVP candidate. Rodgers went out and threw for 318 yards against the Bucs with a touchdown pass late to Jordy Nelson to put the Packers up for good at 20-3.In between the two Packers touchdowns wide receiver Randall Cobb was putting together a career day. Not only did a catch late in the fourth quarter on third down help keep the Nelson touchdown drive going, it was also his 11th grab of the day. A new career high for Cobb, who is currently in a contract year. While the offense had a relatively slow day in terms of Packers standards, the defense put on a clinic. In the first half the Packers defense forced one three-and-out after another. It wouldnt be until Tampa Bays final drive of the first half that they picked up a first down, and got their first points of the day with a late field goal. The Packers defense kept the pressure high in the second half as well. The front seven was able to sack Buccaneers quarterback Josh McCown seven times on the day, with Clay Matthew leading the charge with two and a half of them. The final Packers sack resulted in an interception by Jones to ice the game, and punch the Packers ticket to the postseason. Now all that remains in the regular season is a match-up with the Detroit Lions on December 28th. A game that will serve as a defacto NFC North division title game, and determine who gets to host at least one game in the playoffs. wearegreenbay - Headlines by Tags - sports
