Paintings of my Grandparents......a couple days ago I posted some pix of my grandma and myself and I have received plenty of positive feedback and comments. I would like to personally thank them and that you always have peace in your hearts, be humble on your daily travels and that you received good blessing daily. May God Always Watch Over You! You all enjoy your day...... Male and Female Environment We all have limits to understanding, knowing and perception. It comes in various degrees pertaining to a persons point of view or concept of acuteness, acuity or insight on a particular subject. If I dont understand or have knowledge of something, I ask questions, read on it or do a research on it, this way I kind of get an idea so I just dont walk into it blind. I also learned that listening has a massive impact on understanding, knowledge and wisdom. Along with that comes attitude. Willingness to listen, learn and to understand, its an attitude. Without the proper attitude or guidance, understanding of life in general will be shortsighted. Coming to understand and obtaining knowledge and wisdom is part of maturing in stages of ones life or experiences one goes through. If you have the willingness to listen at a young age, you will be able to overcome lifes obstacles, later on in your life. So, with this said, over the years I have come to understand and view life through the eyes and teachings of my Grandmother. I have come to understand, our environment (Universe) that we, each and everyone of us, individually, are all connected to the Elements, of which dwells and exist in this environment. Through this connection, we get to live in peace and in harmony with nature and in balance with the continual changing of seasons. Along with that our sacred ceremonies has an integral part of our lives, culture, teaching and philosophy. With our ceremonies Ive come to realize that every living creature that walk or crawl the face of the earth, have a reason and purpose in our lives. In its own particular ways, insects, reptiles, animals and bird species, have stories, prayers and songs that all pertain to their individual species and they have a significant impact on the changing of seasons. Through our sacred prayers and songs of certain ceremonies, I have come to realize that Nature consist of a Male and Female life form or entity. Therefore, we, us humans, co-exist with various species of life forms, within this environment. So, we live in a Male and Female habitat, or ecosystem along with the different species of organisms. From the far reaches of the universe, the stars, galaxies and milky way to the Elements of our environment. The vegetation, the animals, insects, reptiles, our sacred mountain, different seasons, thunder, lightening, and rain. The earth, wind, water and fire, along with our ceremonies, songs and prayers, sacred paraphernalia, medicine bundles, our homes, families thoughts and thinking process all have a Male and Female entity. I could go on and tell you more of what I have come to understand through my Grandmothers teaching, but, its just to give you a little insight into my understanding and realization of life. Dont get me wrong, Im sharing this little bit of knowledge not to be boasting or know it all, but in respect, and humbleness. I am but still yet a novice in the ways and views of our people, our traditions, culture, belief, philosophy and heritage. So, those of you that still have Grandparents, spend as much valuable time as possible with them. They may not have the riches of the world, but they are rich and wealthy in our peoples culture, philosophy, teaching, understanding, knowledge and wisdom. On a side note….to some, my understanding of life in general, may be common knowledge, but like I said, I am but still yet a novice. A person may turn around and look back on through the years of their upbringing and come to understand and get to know everything there is know about life, they are going to turn around and look at the path they have yet to travel will realize that they are just beginning, a novice traveling on our daily journey on this road we call Life. On the other hand, there are those who did not get a chance to see their Grandparents and get to know them, it is for this purpose Im writing this thesis. Like myself, I have raised my kids off the reservation, they only know and view Life, through the eyes of the dominant society and through the scriptures. My intent on writing this composition is to get our younger generation to get curious and interested into our teaching, disciplines and philosophies of our people and get them to read and do researches into our heritage, cultures, and traditions………………………………………………………..D Jay!!!!
