Palabras Mayores -- Spanish Language & Media Conference SACRAMENTO, CA – Los Angeles, California is host to the second annual 2-day interactive Palabras Mayores – Spanish Language & Media Conference held at UCLA Extension, Figueroa Courtyard. This conference starting in a few days on June 21-22, kicks off with a full day of instruction followed by a Welcome Reception hosted by SEIU Local 721, where attendees will be able to mingle and network with other Spanish media types, California’s Latino Legislative Caucus members as well as other California elected officials. Writers, journalists/reporters, assignment editors, translators, publishers, interpreters, proofreaders, graphic designers, public information officers or anyone in the public relations field are all invited to attend this educational conference. CLIMB Network, a non-profit organization along with Spanish Media Consultants, a biliterate Spanish media company that helps American companies reach millions of Spanish-Americans in their native language have partnered up to bring the highly acclaimed Palabras Mayores linguistic group from Spain and Mexico. Their mission is to create a fun, interactive opportunity for Spanish media personnel to come away with the tools and resources to clearly communicate messages to the Spanish-speaking public. A scholarship fund that will host a Spanish communications student at the state capitol covering California politics will be hosted by Huffington Post Voces. The Palabras Mayores group consists of Alberto Gómez Font, Director, Instituto Cervantes Rabat and Academy Correspondent Member of the North American Academy of Spanish Language. Xosé Castro Roig, English translator, editor and proofreader. He collaborated in the first two editions of the Dictionary of the Spanish Language by the Academia Española. Antonio Martín Fernández, Philologist at Universidad Complutense, all of Madrid, Spain and Jorge de Buen Unna from Tijuana, México, who has worked as a drawer, graphic designer, cartoonist, and illustrator for several Mexican television broadcasting companies.
