Pangasinan media group holds 3rd ‘Broadcastreeing’ By Venus May H. Sarmiento DAGUPAN CITY, Sept 5 (PIA) - The media airwaves in Pangasinan will be temporarily silent while broadcasters take part in a greening activity for Mother Earth on September 7. Now on its third year, the tree planting event billed “broadcastreeing” will be conducted along the Dawel River in Dagupan. The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas-Pangasinan Chapter has been at the forefront of the greening event in support of the Aquino administration’s National Greening Program. Jay Mendoza, KBP-Pangasinan president, said tree planting has been KBP’s advocacy and is replicated by other KBP chapters nationwide. The media group has previously conducted tree planting in San Manuel town in 2011 and in San Fabian town in 2012. Mendoza said more than 3,000 seedlings will be planted by media personalities from radio, television and print. A short program will follow where Mayor Belen Fernandez and Vice Mayor Brian Lim will give inspirational messages. Leduina Co, provincial environment and natural resources officer, and Roderick Dawis, Department of Interior and Local Government-Dagupan Chief, will gives messages while City Agriculturist Emma Molina will brief participants on the day’s event. The activity is in collaboration with DILG, DENR, the provincial government of Pangasinan and Dagupan city government. (MCA/VHS PIA-1 Pangasinan)
