Papa Lanz I’ve always wanted to have a better life even - TopicsExpress

Papa Lanz I’ve always wanted to have a better life even though at times, it could be lonely. That is why I had considered working abroad—in Italy with my sister. On my way to Italy, I had a stopover in Qatar where the checkpoint authority didn’t allow me to continue my flight. But instead, they harassed me by touching my sensitive body parts and worst; sent me back home—immediately. I wanted to fight back, considering that I grew up in Tondo where people are brave. But that moment, I couldn’t do anything and even other people have no chance to help me. I was livid for being treated wrongly and received no respect from those people for three days in Qatar. Out of shame to my family who has done everything and spending half a million pesos in helping me to reach my dream, I kept it a secret. My family didn’t know that I went back home. It was a shameful experience for me and for my family who owe a lot of money to other people in pursuing my dreams. It was also difficult to accept that all of their efforts and resources were wasted because of those inconsiderate and disrespectful people at Qatar. From then on, my life has started to change. I get along with the lesbians whom I personally didn’t know. Back then, I was still closeted, but I started to learn things and able myself to get back on track, carrying the hope to make my family be proud of me. My siblings and I grew up with no silver spoon in our mouths. We were selling ‘sago’, ‘gulaman’, seafoods and other foods to help with our studies and my parents. We were all in college, so life wasn’t easy at all. I’ve entered and excelled on varsity at UST, so it somehow lessened the burden on expenses. My hardwork paid off and became the Captain Ball. I also managed to enter the RP Youth. I wanted to tell to all the people who will read my story, that adversities in life shouldn’t be the reason of not pursuing our plans and dreams in this lifetime. I am not perfect but I have tried to be a better one than to be “magaling and mahusay na nilalang.” Because, I believed that a person’s having a good heart and good intentions is more favored to success than those people who are excellent in all things but don’t know how to be a good human being.
