Pasco County, FL is looking to do away from having valedictorians - TopicsExpress

Pasco County, FL is looking to do away from having valedictorians and allowing this student with the highest GPA give the commencement speech because they feel its unfair to students. Instead they want to replace the traditional valedictorians speech with a speech the members of the class vote on. So they want to substitute achievement with a popularity contest. Um, how is a popularity contest more fair than academic excellence? Shame on you Pasco County. Shame on you for falling for yet another illogical agrument from a left of center cabal of parents with average children who think their kids are more exceptional than they are in reality. I wonder if the hardest part of teaching is actually the teaching part of the job. Either way, today you educators have my sympathy.
