Pastor Mikes Daily Devotion Wednesday Christmas Eve, 2014 Revelation 15:8, The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power, and no one was able to enter the temple till the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed. There are certain situations in our lives that we might ignore, only to find ourselves having to live with the consequences of our decisions. I know people who have ignored letters and demands from the IRS. This choice to do so did not cause the IRS to go away, but in the end, just caused an increase in the fines and interest owed. I have ministered to couples who have chosen to ignore problems in their marriages. Their decision to do so did not make for a better marriage, but their marriages suffered as the problems would spring-up periodically. To ignore an illness will not cure it, but your decision could even cause your untimely death. One of the attributes of God (a part of His nature) is that He is just. Justice demands that the innocent go free, and that the guilty be punished. In the upcoming portion of the book of Revelation, the time has come for the squeezing to stop, and final judgment upon a Christ-rejecting world to begin. The day that the world has ignored for so long is now upon them. But just before the bowl judgments are poured out, we get a glimpse of the throne room of God. The doors of the temple are opened. This heavenly temple is the place where God sits as authority over all creation. The reason that the doors are opened is so that we would know that the judgments about to be carried out are from God. The smoke spoken of here is the outward evidence of His holiness, soon to be revealed in His glory and power for the purpose of judgment. No longer will mankind be able to ignore God; those who do not know Him as Savior will now know Him as Judge. The events to follow are why salvation is called salvation, these coming judgments are what we are saved from. Exodus 19:18, Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.
