Paul Robeson Swing Low, Sweet Chariot About 1972 or 73, I was teaching in a very rural school located in W. Central IL. One day African American man did a one man show for the entire 6-12 student body. This was the final song of his program. He got everyone to close their eyes, sang the final few verses real low and slow. When we opened our eyes he had left the building. The mans ability to sway and entertain his audience made a lasting impression on me. I wish I could remember his name: he was good.
