The ivories are identified by a crosshatch pattern in the grain known as Schreger Lines. The tusks, reaching up to 200-300 pounds, are found in the Yukon and Artic Regions of Canada. The Woolly Mammoth is distinguished by very large curved tusks, while the Mastodon grain follows a much straighter line. The carved pieces you see may be as old as 200,000 years!
