Paul (The Carver) Young - Yukon, Canada This Jewellery is Made of Hand Carved and polished Mammoth or Mastadon ivory. The ivories are identified by a crosshatch pattern in the grain known as Schreger Lines. The tusks, reaching up to 200-300 pounds, are found in the Yukon and Artic Regions of Canada. The Woolly Mammoth is distinguished by very large curved tusks, while the Mastodon grain follows a much straighter line. The carved pieces you see may be as old as 200,000 years! Yukon Indigenous Artist, Paul (The Carver) Young has placed artwork in museums, galleries, and dozens of private collections worldwide.
