Paula Priesse February 27th – The Cato Institute’s Ilya Shapiro: “SB 1062 does nothing more than align state law with the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act.” The RFRA passed the House unanimously and the Senate 97-3. But nonetheless as expected, AZ Governor Brewer vetoed the bill. On this 5th anniversary of the Tea Party, this quote: Let us never believe that the freedom of religion imposes on any of us some responsibility to run from our convictions. Let us instead respect one another’s faiths, fight to the death to preserve the right of every American to practice whatever convictions he or she has, but bring our values back to the table of American discourse to heal our troubled land.” To many SB 1062 opponents, the words of an anti-gay “wacko bird.” A “wacko bird” whose campaign website (below) mentioned the RFRA as “one of the most important civil rights bills for religion in American history.” Of course he should know, he signed it. So don’t blame us, those with a problem with all this please take it up with him. Or better yet his wife. Her name is Hillary Clinton. P
