Pawan Chamling who heads the Sikkim Organic Mission is the ‘thief ’ Minister; of 70,000 hectares of arable land in Sikkim; 60,000 ‘hectores’ is ‘abeady’ organic certified and efforts are on to make Sikkim as the ‘fist’ organic state. Not only this, by 2015 Sikkim ‘aim’ to be completely organic ‘cerlified’; Organic farming involves ‘how’ cost of production and is a new word meaning ‘faun’ of agriculture. These are some of the extraterrestrial words being taught to class V students of state run schools. The Term Book on elementary Environmental Science says ‘Sikkim Organic Mission headed by the ‘thief’ Minister has been made to check the implementation of organic farming ‘programmer’ in Sikkim. Seventh word in Forth line, Page 22 of Chapter 4 of the 72-page book published by Delhi based Tulip Publications Private Limited is loudly read as ‘the thief minister’ in several government schools across the state, even teachers and students admit it. Surprisingly, a school teacher without wanting to be named says, ‘The ‘thief’ and several other errors have not only created problems in teaching but students end up learning the wrong words and sentences. We have been asked to make hand written correction wherever such mistakes are noticed’. Like the teacher, no one is willing to come on record fearing victimization by minister N.K.Pradhan headed State Human Resource Development Department (HRDD). All attempts to contact Tulip Publications Pvt. Ltd having its office at Rani Jhanshi Road, Delhi for their say on the numerous and serious ‘typo-errors’ failed. Textbooks for state board affiliated primary books infamous for substandard language, incorrect facts and figures and delayed delivery to students have once again come to the fore. Even as no concrete corrective measure has been taken neither by the HRDD or the publisher, parents and even teachers are asking, who is to be blamed and why Chamling is being called the ‘thief Minister?
