Paying It Forward. There have been times in life where I learnt to pay it forward. Growing up with my grandma is about learning to be ethical and believing in the turn of fates in life. Some years ago, while I was struggling to find a proper job and at the same time financing my own studies, I gave home tuition services. Times were then hard. The Asia economic crisis was at its worst. There were parents who wanted to stop my services after they were retrenched or asking for hefty discounts for the fees they paid. I ended up giving free tuition classes or lowering my fees to suit their budgets. I worked with children with single parent backgrounds at nominal fees or free. I continued on while I was going through my teaching training. I must admit, it had to work doubly hard as I did not impose a minimum fee by hours for my tutoring service. Some friends and people I knew seeing this as my own lose ends and I was not being smart at earning money. I admit that while some were charging at a rate of $30/hr, I was accepting $120 for 8 lessons that summed to 16 hours. While some were teaching individual subjects for $150 for 4 lessons, I was getting $150 for 8 lessons. Though life was hard and I was tutoring 7 days a week, but I believed that there must be a cause to why God sent me to them. However, as I looked back at the journey I travelled on my life this far, made me realized, God set me challenges but at the same time, He sent me to the right places and best people on the right time. He granted my wish to meet people with different expertise that I can learn from. He allowed me the access to the knowledges and skills that are beneficial to my life at different points of time. I have never been any richer, yet I am not any poorer. But each time I am face with hurdles and challenges, I have the right people and right places that God diverts me to. When I first become a mother, I know what Grandma had taught me is a heirloom that I will want my children to inherit. I seen that in Rayyan, Amber and Eden. Last Friday when Rayyan held and kissed the poor man, I had to hold back the tears in my eyes. I have seen a beautiful soul in him. My children, you shall not be a cent poorer or a minute lost when you believe in the goodness you have done that will pass on. You will all succeed well in life. You will spread your wings wider and youll travel and seek knowledge further than me. You will more rooted with your spiritual believe. You will be treated with kindness, respect and well-loved by all. And may when you face with hurdles and challenges in life, my fighting spirit will live well in all of you even when I will no longer be around. May our generations to come pass it on. Aamin.
