Payment Due Romans 3:23 Sin, It seems like such a simple, unassuming word. Yet the destructive power possessed by this little three-letter word is devastating in this life and is eternally condemning in the life to come for those who die in their sin. Sin has ruined some of the greatest minds and lives produced by humanity (3;10-19). Sin renders mankind helpless (Eph.2:1) and hopeless (Eph.2:12) and ultimately results in eternal condemnation in the lake of fire, the just punishment for sin (Matt.25:41, 46). Many religious leaders today downplay or even dismiss the magnitude of sins offense against a holy God and what He must do to punish sin and sinners. Denying these truths is of no help to anyone in this life, and it only leads to damnation in the life to come. The Lord repeatedly warned His hearers about the horrors that the lake of fire holds (Mk.9:42-48). In Revelation 20:14, we read that the second death will occur when death and hell (are) cast into the lake of fire, which means that all who occupy hell will ultimately be cast into the place of Gods eternal and just judgement. Those who will one day occupy the lake of fire, the eternal prison house of the unregenerate, will be there of their own doing, not Gods, for our Lord is not willing that any should perish in eternal condemnation (2 Pet.3:9). The reason people occupy hell and then the lake of fire is because of their sinful nature, because of the sins they have committed, and because they have rejected Gods provision of salvation in Christ. The blame for ones unsaved conditions rests upon the individual who has refused Gods gift. Have you believed on Jesus Christ to the saving of your soul (Acts 16:31)?
