Peace Kathmandu Nepal Subject: peace Buddha child care society (PBCCS) awareness and financial assistance campaign About PBCCS Peace Buddha child care society is not for profit charitable NGO established in 2005. PBCCS aims are to reintegrate and rehabilitate orphans and children who have suffered during the war by providing support within a family environment. Our priority is to work with other NGO’s and individual volunteers to promote the wellbeing of these children by providing food, shelter and education. We have been addressing the issues of orphaned, and severally disadvantage children since our inception. PBCCS is funded by grants and donations by individual and communities. Mission To protect and promote children’s rights of equal opportunity, access to services and benefits of development through creating community mobilization against inequality, violence against children, exploitation of children, social discrimination and social in justice. To empower disadvantaged and marginalized individuals, with a focus on women and children, through rescue, rehabilitation, education and skill building. To rescue children who are in vulnerable conditions. To make society and policy makers aware of the ill treatment that is occurring against some children. To provide shelter and education to orphaned children. To collaborate with other like-minded groups and individuals to achieve our goals. Working layout • Rented flat • Caretaker • 3 active members and 4 co-partners Future programs • To provide alternative training to disadvantaged individuals, with the aim of making them constructive citizens of our society. • To encourage disadvantaged children to participate in various extra- curricular activities. • To encourage educational sponsorship of children we are currently taking care of as well as students in disadvantage communities. • To facilitate adoption of children in accordance with the laws of Nepal. • To improve our current shelter home so that it is better equipped to accommodate 15 children. • To run various income generating as well as skill building projects such as vegetable gardens and stitching training. • To work towards publishing a magazine with articles and drawing by our children. • To co-ordinate our efforts with the government as well as private agencies to enhance our programs which are aimed at disadvantaged women and children. Obstacles PBCCS is trying its best to implement its current programs and develop new programs, but we are limited due to the obstacles we face. These include lack of good infrastructure at our shelter home and lack of financial assistance. Financial assistance Each year, PBCCS relies heavily on the contributions from individuals, corporations and foundation to enhance our services and create desperately needed programs that are not supported by public funding. Donations by individuals allow PBCCS to support hundreds of children and families each year. These donations also allow PBCCS to explore, design and lunch innovative programs which enable us to go above and beyond in addressing the needs of the disadvantaged. PBCCS could not provide the best for our children and families without individual contributions. Types of assistance Cash gifts: contributions of any size are welcome. You may also designate your gift in your memory or honor of someone or an event. Pledges: you can make a pledge of any amount and pay it on a schedule that is appropriate for you. Past programs PBCCS has organized many different kinds of programs targeting women and children from poor and disadvantaged classes. The aim of these programs was to provide food, shelter, health care, educational opportunities and in some cases rehabilitation. PBCCS has rehabilitated more than 30 street children through its programs. Some children were sent back to their parents, while others were admitted into rehabilitation center for further help. PBCCS has, since our creation, provided shelter to 1- 15 of various ages. PBCCS has counted training programs, on basic of health as well as preventative measures against the spread of HIV AIDS, targeted specifically at women of rural areas around Kathmandu valley. Current programs PBCCS is running a children home of about 15 children aged between 3 and 18. These children are from families who have suffered from war, community violence and intolerance. We provide food, shelter and education to these children and help them develop friendships and built trust across cultural boundaries. Even after the dreadful events they have experienced we can receive these children’s spirits so that they can hope for a better future. PBCCS is conducting health related and job education training for women. PBCCS is conducting rescue and rehabilitation programs targeted at street children Insurance: PBCCS can be designated as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy. Bequest: PBCCS may be designated as a recipient of all or a portion of your estate. Employer matching gifts: Many employers match charitable donations of their employees, adding value to donation. In-kind services or products: Donated services and products are often useful. Check with PBCCS for current needs. Sponsorship program: types of sponsorship include some or part of educational costs, fees, food, clothing, shelter and any other donations that could be of use to the child. Every human being is a child of lord. The world is common platform for all of us. In this common platform, some are luckier to have the good fortune of being privileged where as some are forced to live a life hardship, poverty and helplessness. We expect a small contribution can make a great chance if targeted correctly.
