People are generally confused about what I do. I actually have quite a few people think my job is just planning trips. There are also quite a few people who think I just get on Expedia and find the best deal. Nope. Not even close. My job is about finding what you want, desire, and need when taking a break from life. I take into consideration your hobbies, preferences, and dislikes and find options that are going to fit exactly what you want. What I do is tailor made for each individual, and no two trips are exactly the same to an extent. I had a client tell me they wanted to go to New York to see a show. After talking to them for a while, I learned that this man and his wife were celebrating their anniversary for a quick weekend getaway and his wife has always wanted to see a show on Broadway. They were actually interested in seeing a show each night they were there which told me a few things - first, I need to put them in a hotel that is close to the theaters. I also needed to see what times and options are available for shows. Heres where the special comes into play. I was able to find a guided tour that is led by someone who performs in Broadway shows. They take you through the area and talk about the history and culture of Broadway. So the day they arrive they take a tour of 42nd street and have an experience beyond just buying a few tickets and listening to great performances. Planning itineraries like this is driven by my belief that people deserve experiences and will create amazing memories with their loved ones (or themselves!) The best description Ive heard so far for me is a quote by Dondra Ritzenthaler (senior vice president of sales at Celebrity Cruises) “I would tell my consumer that this vacation is the most precious thing they do every year. Why would I want to sell them the cheapest thing, as opposed to the thing they will remember forever?” #WordsToLiveBy
