People in the Life of Faith talk a lot about freedom. I am not - TopicsExpress

People in the Life of Faith talk a lot about freedom. I am not sure however, that we really understand what we mean when we speak about it. Freedom is not the opposite of legalism, it is the presence of a higher call. Freedom is not defined by the actions that I am permitted to take, freedom is defined by the attitude I have in my heart regarding those actions. If any action becomes something that I am unwilling or unable to lay down, then I am not free, Im just bound to something else. That is why Paul says that it doesnt matter what he has, or does, or says, he is not going to be subject to anything except Christ, the one that empowered him to live in power and grace (see Phil 4, Romans 13-14, Gal 2)
