People keep asking how it went down so Ill share my proposal to Kristi Lyn (soon to be Kristi Flannagan) here. I bought the ring a month or so ago and I knew I wanted to do it in her home state. Weve joked about it before so I told her very seriously I love her and I want to marry her some day but I will not be proposing on vacation. I told her I considered it, but its too soon and I want to be smart about this and wait for at least two years. I could tell she was a little disappointed but she loves me and understood. I turned it into a joke though and we laughed about it a few times over the days leading up. Things like You know you are gonna have to propose to me right? Id say to her. Basically, I completely built it up in her head how it was not going to happen, no chance at all. So the day before we left our spot at the base of Mt. Adams I realized that I was going to do it there. I was nervous and went through a few scenarios in my head on how to make it perfect but of course none of those happened when the time came. I said come look at this mountain view with me before we leave. We sit down and Kristi is rambling on about random things and says please dont ever leave me. and I said well, actually I was going to say the opposite of that and I put the ring in her hand and said Kristi will you marry me? She was completely shocked. At first she laughed like I was still joking, then she looked down and saw a real ring and looked at me laughing still stop it, youre joking right? She actually thought I borrowed a ring from someone to continue the not going to propose to you joke. Good lord, that would be cruel. But I just looked at her and asked again and she said yes. But she said it in a Are you SERIOUS?? kind of tone. She was laugh-crying kind of manically, she couldnt process what was happening, it was ADORABLE. I seriously couldnt have imagined a better reaction. The laughing-crying thing went on for a few minutes and as it all became more real to her we hugged and kissed and hugged and now were engaged. It was perfect, just like her.
