People of MIddletown. This is a conversation I had with Middletown - TopicsExpress

People of MIddletown. This is a conversation I had with Middletown Alderwoman Ramkisoon today. This hasnt been reported yet in the newspaper. You will find some of this unbelievable especially how she attempts to explain her decision not to support the raise before the election and her reasons for changing her vote after the election. I am disgusted by this. Conversation started today Vic Diaz 3:35pm Vic Diaz I called city hall to find out when the pay raises were to be voted on. I came to the meeting last night and there was no meeting. Much to my surprise it happened on Monday. I read the agenda for the meeting online and again, much to my surprise the aldermen pay raises were not on it. Then the most disappointing part of all. You who stated before the election that you didnt support the pay raise in fact voted for it. Shame on you and I hope the media reports what you people did. I was coming to the meeting to support an increase, not the one passed but an increase. I am so disturbed by your vote though because you lied to me and the people of this city. This was a shameless act by all involved but especially you. Kate Ramkissoon 3:40pm Kate Ramkissoon I am sorry you feel this way. I left the decision on how I would vote for the increase up to all people who have been a part of my monthly ward meetings for the last three years, including those who receive monthly email updates. I explained that I would only vote how they felt that I should. I did not feel comfortable with making the decision, so I left it to the people I represent. The response was overwhelmingly in support, and you are welcome to join us at a ward meeting to ask the people there how they came to that decision. Our next meeting will be held on the fourth Tuesday of January, and I hope youll come. I reached out to all that I could to let them make the choice. My vote simply reflected their wishes. I do not believe there was anything underhanded about that. Vic Diaz 3:45pm Vic Diaz Thank you for your response. It is the most ridiculous answer I have ever heard from a political person. No, I will not come to your meeting. Yes, I will expose your lie to all I can. Yes I have called the media. You must be kidding with this response. What about the secret meeting! How dare you insult my intelligence by deferring your vote to a ward committee. How many people were at this meeting? Why didnt you tell the public that before the election? OMG I cannot believe you said that. Kate Ramkissoon 3:51pm Kate Ramkissoon The meeting was rescheduled to Monday by the council president. I dont quite understand what is so ridiculous about my answer. My job as alderman is to reflect the wishes of the people I represent. That is exactly what I did. I have been holding these meetings for three years and went so far as to send a mailer to every household of the third ward asking them to be involved in the meetings or at least sign up to get the monthly email. Have a good holiday, and Im sorry that you are choosing to opt out of being involved with the governing of the city. Vic Diaz 3:56pm Vic Diaz Obviously you chose not poll all of your residents in the ward with the question of whether you should double your pay after saying you would not take a raise. You are so missing the point. You lied! You outright lied! I hope Mr. Amodio comes back and in his mailing he points out what you said a week or two before election day and what you did after winning. What an example you are, a poor one a that. I truly had respect for you before but not now. You can continue to invite or make your claim that Im not participating in democracy but it was you who lied. I will be calling my alderman, burr and massi to find out how they voted also. You must be exposed for this. Send me the next e mail ballot and I will give you my opinion. Kate Ramkissoon 4:21pm Kate Ramkissoon I hope you will take the time to read the article written in the paper. I said it was not the time. I never said I would refuse them, but I was not happy with the timing and this is why I turned the decision over to the people I represent. I have always actively sought their feedback, and they know that. I think you should certainly follow up with the people you elected to represent your views in the first ward.
