Sadly overlooked, not unusual in his case, Tim Hardin also died on - TopicsExpress

Sadly overlooked, not unusual in his case, Tim Hardin also died on the night John Lennon died, December 8, 1980. Hardin didnt know it but he was a mentor to me. In my last disastrous years of highschool he was playing the old Riverboat on Yorkville every couple of months, doing heavy roadwork to come up not only with alimony but, as whispers had it, for a revived and increasing junk habit. In those days the artist would play monday through sunday at the Boat, two shows a night, and it was only three bucks to get in and hear a set. Four bucks with a coffee. The club was a basement shoebox, only about seven or eight feet across, and you were almost in the artists laps. I would literally study from only a few feet away Hardins voice, guitar and piano technique, the last literally over his shoulder. Id go at least twice a week, and often there were only a few other people in the joint. It was a real master class in grabbing an audience, any audience, by the throat, as seen in the video below, where he effortlessly hypnotizes a crowd of half a million within seconds of his appearing on stage. Whenever I worked up the nerve to say a word to him he always brushed by me and only ever said, Uh-huh. He probably thought I was a stalker, which I probably was in a certain sense. Still, I treasure my good fortune in being able to study with the master, if only as an auditor. monthshttps://youtube/watch?v=93f7vSt70hM
