Shes going! A San Antonio woman who is the nations oldest female veteran wanted one last trip to Washington, D.C., to see things she had not seen before and to pay tribute to troops that won World War II. At 108, Lucy Coffey will fly out of San Antonio on a chartered plane next week and go Washington, where shell visit the Womens Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery and other monuments. There also may be a stop at the White House. Bexar County veterans service officer Queta Marquez, a retired Marine Corps captain, told the San Antonio Express-News about Coffey and arranged an interview with her. After the newspaper story was published July 10, officials here and in Austin huddled to see what they could do. A charter flight from San Antonio seemed to be the best approach, sparing Coffey the rigors of a long day of travel. Allen Bergeron, chairman of Honor Flight Austin, approached René Banglesdorf, founder and CEO of Austin-based Charlie Bravo Aviation.
