Im not a pacifist - I do believe in necessary defense. The tragedy is that we as a collective humanity have poorly defined what necessary means. And Ive come to a sound conclusion: we really dont deserve the beauty of the Earth - in its diversity and in its wonders. Our species would have been better off on Mars - a planet with barely any oxygen, preventing us from dehumanizing, terrorizing, and incessantly over-thinking each others differences, that has no fertile dirt for cyclical battles and little water or resources for us to wage endless war over, and that most importantly has insufficient gravity - weakening bullets into foam peanuts - and preventing humanity from engaging in little more than lightweight slap fights. But no, wed still find a way to blow up Mars. Almost ironic that we use the word animal as an insult when they have generally done a better job at honoring the inherent dignity of other species, minding their own business with the exception of necessity, while we in turn have found every avenue and cyclical cause with which to oppress, subjugate, or violate the very sanctity of our own.
