People say that we have more choices than ever before. Yeah, but there are choices and there are choices. I can choose whether to have marmite or vegemite, whether to have quilted toilet paper or value toilet paper, daily mail or guardian, cows milk or soya milk, netflix or love film, bag for life or the crappy bags that break on the way home. There are so many little choices that it makes my head spin. But what about the big choices. Can I choose not to have a polluted environment? No. Can I choose for the majority of my taxes to go to schools and hospitals rather than on defense and arms? No. Can I choose not to have harmful substances pumped into my drinking water? No. Can I choose to have Jeremy Clarkson strung up and flayed live on television? No. All I am left with is all the shitty little choices that make no real difference.
