‘People who hold grudges are amongst the weakest people in the world. They expend so much energy carrying anger and resentment that they lose strength for much else. They become too weak for meaningful friendships because the slightest offense only adds to the weight of all the other offenses they carry. Eventually, even their minds lose strength and can no longer recall the details of what “justified” the grudges in the first place. And most tragically, they lose the strength for justice and righteousness, as they have strength only to see themselves as victims and are thus blind to their own oppression and wrong—in lashing out at anyone they perceive might cause them harm.’
