Perfect - Absolute - Unique - these words share a common characteristic… they do not require adjectives. This is not always manifest in our writings - even Thomas Jefferson gave in to We the people, in order to form a more perfect union…” How can something be more perfect? Does this not make the prior state imperfect? Or how about the new idea of moveable absolutes? If it is moveable or adjustable or only in effect sporadically - it is not absolute. Continuing on in this observation - how do you qualify unique? Something either is or is not …there are no levels of unique. Another crucial word with this characteristic is TRUTH. Truth is not open to alteration nor adjustment. Truth is not dependant upon belief. Truth is. Whether I accept Truth is immaterial. Truth remains. So, now comes a dangerous half-Truth, which we have already stated is not Truth at all. Here it is …The Truth will set you free. This phrase gets tossed around with reckless abandon because we very seldom acknowledge the conditions of this statement. Consider the words of the Master …Jesus said, If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:31-32. The promise is conditional …the Truth will set you free …if …you hold to the Masters teaching …then …you will know the Truth …and the Truth will set you free. And that makes this a perfectly unique absolute! Ain’t that the truth! Randy Vader
