Perhaps because of my own transition or for some other reason, Im often asked for career advice. Many people I meet are passionate about what they do and want help to keep it going and growing. Great! Others are trying very hard to be known at a chosen profession. They want to see their name in print, a picture on a cover or asked to perform a big festival. They feel theyve earned the right for a little humblebragging and their time has come. To you I ask, why do you do what you do? Do you care about those you serve? Has the idea of making it trumped the work itself? The people I know who have truly made it gave up caring about making it a long time ago. They love what they do, they care about others and theyll keep doing it even if they never grace the cover of a magazine. Do it for the love not the likes.
