Perhaps of interest to Jamie Olson and any other students who went to Russia or are considering going (and, why would you not?). A dramatization of Hemingways HILLS LIKE WHITE ELEPHANTS, as performed by students in a literature course at Petrozavodsk State University (the same school to which Jamie takes students). I had never thought to dramatize stories in class before, but participated in a couple while there. It was a great way of getting deeper into the stories and the conversations afterwards really benefitted from the work the students did. Next semester, I am going to try and arrange with this same professor, Nadezhda Krylova, a dramatic Skype collaboration between my own ENG 102 students and her students. Well see, as time zones are very different. I learned a lot from Professor Krylova, who studies American drama and short story, about the short story while in Russia last Fall.
