Perhaps this is an appropriate time to start thinking outside the structures of existing institutionalised religions. Whilst Religion and Spirituality are both paths to God, they are very different in approach. Where Religion tends to breed separation - my religion vs your religion, my God is the only real God, my ethics are better than yours etc., Spirituality sees all people as connected and equal. Whilst Religion often takes the approach of fearing God, Spirituality teaches us not to fear God but to approach God through the path of love. Often Religion talks of God being high up in the heavens, Spirituality shows us that God is omniscient and omnipresent and can be felt as living presence in our own heart. Many followers of Religion feel that only their path can lead to salvation whereas Spirituality believes that all religions are just different paths to the same goal. Is it time that we move away from segregationist ideologies and toward a more unified and conscious way of living?
