Pete here This aired on National Television.......... I put it on Facebook because I am confused somewhat !!!!! Was this acceptable television ? Was the message a good one or a bad one ? My instinct was to agree with the whites only spin and how in our city and/or Richmond I am told constantly that whites are not a visible minority. Well first off we are visible and secondly we are close to if not the minority. So what does this mean? Is the term visible minority ( when withheld from being applied to whites in our city or Richmond ) really a defensible term free from bias or prejudice by default ? Has the term visible minority lost its intended meaning in some cities ? Is it unfair to exclude whites,who are a minority within their city, From being designated a visible minority ? If the hard line legal answer is that whites CANNOT be a visible minority then why not? I have found it extremely interesting that the rules of the POWERS THAT DECIDE THIS STUFF turn a blind eye to ethnic hiring practices...... How many of you out there have ever seen a WHITE waiting tables in a Cantonese or Mandarin Restaurant ? Do WHITES not like to drive cabs ? The ethnic spots reserved in universities for Visible Minorities has become almost laughable. Drive around the campus .......do a head count by race and you tell me who should be getting some spot by default.......... I comment on this with all good intentions and with all due respect. I just believe that it is time for our country to recognize that this visible minority bias has seen its day and it is now time to declare us all as one and the same. I am finding it very difficult to believe anymore that we as whites are somehow in control of prejudicial hiring practices and the like........ No, it is no longer the way it is and in fact as many have alluded to over the last few years, it may well be the complete opposite. If it isnt already in effect give it just a few years more and we will see who is the visible minority and we will see how Vaucasians get treated when they are the TRUE visible minority. When that time comes I wonder if anyone out in BUREAUCRaXT
