I gave her snip prices but said we do not declaw, do not approve of it, consider it cruel, but if she wants it done, she needs to go to a regular vet if she could find one who would do it. As the conversation progressed, I learned that she had rescued this wild kitten and she was afraid he would never be tame and then she started commenting that she thought maybe she was allergic to him. By the end of the conversation she thought she might just send him to us since we would not kill him (even though I told her we were very full and do kill when we run out of space -- she must not have heard that part). I told her if he was unable to be tamed we would have to send him to a barn home, and she was fine with that as long he did not die. So, a couple of hours later this little guy was delivered to us via animal control and after a discussion about what he should be named (the woman called him Smokey), he was given the handle Ashland. It was quite easy to remove him from the trap, take his picture and get him settled. It is quite likely he will become friendly with more handling. It would be so nice to get him out of the shelter and into a home. If you or your rescue can help Ashland, now is the time to step up!
