Dogs Deserve Better UPDATE our Rescue Coordinator spoke with SPCA and the Humane Law Enforcement will be calling back to answer specific questions Robin has. IN PHILADELPHIA DOGS MUST BE BROUGHT INSIDE AT 20 DEGREES. Animal control cited owner last night for several things we will find out what exactly . We also want to know how long does owner have till they PULL THE DOGS. STAY TUNED. HORRIBLE ABUSE AND NEGLECT: 2144 N. 62nd Street, West Philadelphia, PA. Just received this email from concerned woman: By way of background, this has been an ongoing SPCA case since the fall of 2011 and originally an SPCA officer did advise he would have removed due to lack of shelter - the owner was JUST (12/2014!) made to buy shelter (igloos) for the dogs The German Shepherds are living with rats, skin infections/disease, eye infections, lack of heat/proper shelter or adequate access to water/food. They have empty bowls with green stagnant rain water. There are pictures documenting ribs/spine showing through their coats. The SPCA did cite for medical neglect. The SPCA did cite for lack of shelter. Neighbors and concerned animal lovers are all feeding them in an effort to keep them alive. The owner does not regularly feed these dogs and they are never (EVER) brought inside. They are in the snow, 16 degrees outside with not a single footprint into their enclosure to feed them! These dogs were purchased as family pets and, when they became inconvenient to care for, put outside and basically abandoned. Recently the smaller dog has a leg injury that prevents him from putting weight on his right rear leg, and has an open wound on his nose). Both dogs have broken teeth. Heres an e-mail address for this situation [email protected] the law says dogs DO have to on be INSIDE in this freezing weather. There is a phone number to call. THESE DOGS NEED TO BE RESCUED NOW The SPCA needs to remove these dogs once and for all. PA SPCA (215) 426-6300 Please call 1-866-601-SPCA to file an animal cruelty, abuse and/or neglect report.
