Phillippe Maton Wiltsee (son of Alexander Baron DeWiltz) was born Abt. 1580 in Fourcoin, Luxembourg, and died 1632 in Colony of Swaanendael, DE. He married (1) Philippette Caron on January 10, 1598/99. He married (2) Fytie (Sophia) Terr Bosch on 1616 in Leyden. Includes NotesNotes for Phillippe Maton Wiltsee: While living in Amsterdam, Phillippe worked in the profession of dyeing wool. Joined the Dutch West India Company, and sailed to America with his family on the New Netherland. Phillippe helped build Fort Orange, but eventually settled with his family at Waalbogt (now the State of New York). In 1632, he travelled with two of his sons, Pierre (age 12) and Hendrick (age 9) to Swaanendahl, Delaware, to investigate the possibility of moving his family there. Phillippe fell ill, and was being cared for, when the area was attacked by a tribe of Indians. Everyone in the fort was killed, with the exception of the two boys, who were abducted by the Indians.
