Phoebe came home today with another sheet of Maths homework, so I read through thinking it was quite a leap from last weeks adding 1 to another number to almost early algebra find the missing number with sums like 100 minus ? = 35. But I did my bit, we sat in the garden counting in 5s and taking away big numbers from 100, then we tried some find the missing numbers with simple sums like 2 plus ? = 5 etc. and I started to feel that she was clearly slipping behind. Then we went inside, I got the sheet out, put it in front of her and she turned it over and said, No Mummy this is just some scrap paper I practised my spellings on!
