Physical theatre company Limbik are looking for a female actor of black, African or African-Caribbean heritage (playing age 30-55) to join their ensemble of upcoming production of The Messenger. The Messenger is a new piece of devised theatre inspired by the world of NHS nurses and organ donation. Based on first-hand accounts, it tells the story of the Greene family as they struggle to make the most difficult decision of their lives: the decision to donate and retrieve the organs of their son, brother, and partner. Running alongside is the journey of the nurse supporting them, while facing a private crisis of confidence in her own work. Using chorus, movement, imagery and scenes, the show investigates the membrane between life and death, the emotional volatility of grief, and the complexity of family dynamics. Limbik are looking for a talented and highly motivated actor-creator to develop multiple characters in the show. Strong ability in movement, improvisation and ensemble-awareness is essential. Rehearsal will take place from November 3-28 (the first three weeks in Norwich—accommodation will be provided for visiting artists—and the final week in London), with a Preview in London on November 28. The production will then tour in March 2015. Dates: Rehearsal and Preview: November 3-28. Tour: March 6-20, tbc. Pay: Equity/ITC rates plus travel ** Application deadline is Thursday, October 23, 8pm ** Successful applicants will be invited to a workshop audition with the company on Saturday, October 25 from 11am. Limbik are particularly interested in hearing from actors with a background in devising, physical theatre and movement. APPLY: Send a cover letter and CV by Thursday, October 23 to LIMBIK - You can call them on: 07986 712 082
