Physicians in Massachusetts are now required to offer end of life counseling to their terminally ill patients nearing death, according to new regulations taking effect. It is the first such law in the nation. These regulations come in light of a controversial decision by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to continue in 2015 its policy of not reimbursing medical practitioners for end of life conversations with seriously ill patients.
