Piqué: I wouldnt play for the national side if I didnt feel it Gerard Piqué recently shared his opinions on the Spain side in a press conference from the Josy Barthel stadium, where La Roja will play Luxembourg on Sunday. The defender spoke about his controversial statements regarding the referendum for Catalan independence. Piqué assured that all hes calling for is the right for an election, not for independence itself. National side: Joining up with the national team is something that I always really enjoy. I love it and Im super-committed. I feel at home in the side and itll be a pleasure to join the rest of the squad whenever I get the call. Criticism: I think that I have things very clear in my head and it shouldnt affect my profession. Public opinion is another matter, and I respect it, but at the end what really matters is that I perform on the pitch and do my job. Feelings: Im in favour of there being a vote, not independence. Allowing the public to express themselves is a democratic process. I wouldnt be with the national team if I didnt feel it. I want to join up with Cesc to make up for the comments about €33 million, and to win World Cups and European Championships with the other players that are involved in the squad. Casillas: Having Casillas as a teammate and captain is marvellous. Hes a player with a unique quality. Style: When you lose, then everything is discussed, but this playing style has led us to all the victories weve achieved, and its not up for question. If we changed then it would be a major mistake.
