Pitt Theatre Dept. alum Melissa Porterfield is directing a new play and is still in need of a few actresses! See below for details: AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT Gotham On Stage is a grassroots theatrical company named after New York City and its cutting edge new works seen in Off Broadway theatres. The company’s mission is to bring exciting new works to regional audiences. The premiere production of the company is Ryan George’s new dark comedy, ristretto stiletto, scheduled for production at the Kelley Strayhorn Theatre November 7-9. Rehearsals are to begin the week of October 7th. We are seeking to cast non-Equity actors for our production of ristretto stiletto which will operate under a guest Equity contract. Some pay available. ristretto stiletto is a New York-centric tale about artists surviving in Greenwich Village in America’s Corporate Age. The characters, charmingly and hilariously narcissistic are each dynamically unique and on a journey of self-discovery, struggling to survive the late 20th century pervasion of bourgeois establishments, gentrification, and high rents in the once noted last American Bohemia. We are casting for the following roles. . . PENELOPE A classic Greenwich Village bohemian. She is an artist, confident, edgy and never goes above 14th street. She dresses in boho-chic, is enigmatic and has dry sense of humor. She is acutely aware of the decline of Bohemia in Greenwich Village and the onslaught of commercialism. Her role in the play is significant to the transformation of the protagonist. MARCI Marci is a loud, bold and slightly overweight narcissist in her 30s. Marci speaks with an upper Atlantic accent. She’s a self-proclaimed expert on all things and is never shy of pronouncing her own great beauty, knowledge and accomplishments. She’s a larger than life character and is a key player in the dark comedy’s central theme. THE TWINS Two young women that pass as twins: Non-speaking roles, however, the characters are physically comedic and will have significant stage time and presence in the production. Auditions will be held on Monday September 9th at the Angel’s Arms (a converted church on the South Side) located at 1 Pius St., Pittsburgh, PA 15203 from 6-10 p.m. Actors should come prepared with a comedic monologue of no more than 2 minutes, with a headshot and resume. Additionally, some actors may be given a scene from the play and asked to read with other members of the cast. Please direct all questions to auditions.ristrettostiletto@yahoo
