I will miss our awesome chats. :( Michaelas Story- For some of my supporters that dont know me very well I wanted to take a moment to tell ya a lil about myself... Im 25 yrs old, and work as a licensed veterinary technician. I have 4 wonderful children, matthew (6), Faith (5), Emily (4), and Elijah (5 mon). I have recently been diagnosed with stage 3 malignant melanoma, may move to stage 4 depending on PET scan results. My tumor started growing while I was pregnant with eli, in about my 5-6 mon. It started out as a lil bump under a flat mole, by the time I gave birth it was about the size of a nickle and raised about 3mm or so. By the time I had it removed in june, about 2 mon after birth it was about the size of a half dollar, if not bigger and raised about an inch or so and ulcerated. My surgeon assured me it was probably nothing so she just did a local and removed only the tumor but no boarders. At my one week follow up I learned my diagnoses. I stayed positive, praying it didnt spread to my lymph nodes. In august I had my 2nd surgery, where they removed boarders and my sentinal nodes in my groin to test if the cancer spread. Again I was very positive and optimistic that it had not spread. Again a week later I went in for recheck and results. It is then that reality hit me, not only did it spread to my lymph nodes there was an additional tumor in the boarders called a satellite tumor. So depending the results of my PET scan, I have to undergo a 3rd surgery to remove more area on my calf where the tumor was and have a skin graph, also to have all my lymph nodes removed from my groin, if it spread elsewhere my surgery will wait while I undergo chemotherapy first. I believe a positive attitude is 40% of your survival success. I want to thank each and everyone of you who took the time to like and share my support page and most of all standing beside me in this fight against cancer!!! Survival is my only option!!
