Click here to take a look at the 2014 Turn This Town Around initiative and the progress in Matewan and Grafton. Based on your nominations, the Turn This Town Around partners have selected seven communities with a population of under 1,500, and seven communities with a population of between 1,500 and 6,000, as contestants. One community from each of these categories will be selected through an online voting process and awarded the honor of being one of two 2015 Turn This Town Around communities. Over the course of the year, the two communities will receive a wide variety of support as citizens come together to identify ways they can improve their community and their economy. Communities will receive training and hands-on assistance in planning and implementing projects to beautify their towns, revitalize their downtowns, build new businesses, and diversify their economies. In addition, each community will have access to additional resources they can only receive through Turn This Town Around, including technical assistance from a numerous agencies and organizations from across the state. Warning! This is a year-long project that will require a great deal of work by many dedicated volunteers from your community. Turning YOUR Town Around is not for the faint of heart! It will require broad community engagement, openness to collaboration and a focus on performance. Can your community become an inspiration for communities across West Virginia? We invite you to be bold enough to try. Online voting begins December 2, 2014 and continues through the end of the day on December 9, 2014. Please note that after 10,000 votes, real-time survey results will be unavailable. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for daily updates.
