Please help a member going through a difficult time while searching for a diagnosis. Thanks ~ Cheryl I have a question. A year and a half ago I swole up out of now where and was rushed to the ER where the dr diagnosed me with Urticaria. He said it was stress from being stressed and my body let off a histamine which caused me to swell. My lips face body etc. Got a steroid shot and benadryll shot and a steroid pack to take for a week. It went away immediately. Havent had an issue since. This past Halloween night I did it again. Except I was covered in huge softball sized whelps and started swelling and was itching so bad I thought I came into contact with something I was allergic to. Used my epi pen and was rushed to the ER. Within the past 9 days this has happened four nore times. First night they tried to say the Urticaria again. Second night it did it again a million times worse. I went to an allergist specialist and my blood work came back that it was not a bacterial, viral, or even in fact an allergic reaction. The dr believes it is some type of auto amuine disorder. Ran a bunch more tests and waiting on the results now. Im taking two types of steroids, hydrozine, amd a med at night called dioxopein. I feel like Im going insane. I will feel fine and then the next minute I swell up and am stiff and want to claw my skin off. About four months ago my thyroid began to quit working. And I have been taking synthroid. My hair is falling out now also. I dont know what to do but I googled lupus and I have every symptom. I stay in constant pain and every joint will swell and then go away. Its not all the time but its like a few weeks and then I have a few normal days and then the cycle begins again. I began to get depressed and the dr began me on effexor. I feel helpless and wondered if maybe you could offer me some insight. Am I looking in the wrong direction as far as lupus? Any thoughts? Do I ask the dr specifically to test for this. I go again in the morning to the allergy specialist but I am just tired. I have every vein blew out in my arms from the past week from nurses at the er and they have started using veins in my chest and feet to give me the iv steroids. Please help.
