Please help support Corey and his team by donating. We all support other sports by giving to the kids when they are tagging, buying cookies from girl scouts, peanuts from boy scouts, & buying over priced pizza & pies from lots of different organizations. This is the 1st time ever that we are asking for help. Please donate what you can. If you cant donate, then please share this with your friends and family. After battling hard at the Silver Sticks tournament the weekend of September 26th, the Toms River Blackhawks are the PeeWee A Champs for our region! This is the 1st time a Blackhawk team has finished 1st in a Silver Sticks Tournament. For anyone who has played hockey or knows someone who does, you know how big this is for this team. For the ones that dont know, here it is: Silver Sticks was founded by Jack Kinsella. His son played hockey. Jacks hope was that everyone who participated regardless of the outcome, would adopt the philosophy of Citizenship & International Goodwill through hockey. The tournament was named after the Ottawa Silver Seven hockey team that won the Stanley Cup from 1903-1905. The 1st Silver Sticks tournament started as four teams based out of Richmond, Ontario on February 6, 1958. After the tournament’s modest beginnings, Jack Kinsella sent letters out to border towns in both Canada and the U.S. seeking their involvement. By 1963, it outgrew Richmond and was relocated to McMorran Auditorium in Port Huron, Michigan. There are 47 regional tournaments throughout North America. Only the teams that win their regional tournament advance to the North American finals. It is now the largest North American minor hockey team tournament. We are so excited to be a part of this! Thank you so much:)
