Please help us welcome Shadley to NBS Animal Rescue! Shadley is a 2 year old female Chinese Crested Powderpuff Female mix who came to us from the Macomb County Animal Shelter. She is named after one of our volunteers and previous adopters. This sweet little lady had a nasty upper respiratory infection and was taken right from the shelter to the vet to get antibiotics. Because Shadley wasnt feeling well when she came to us she wasnt very interested in eating, drinking, and as such, wasnt pottying a lot. We noticed that her abdomen was really hard and a bit distended upon intake but thought it might be due to her being constipated. Humidifiers, nebulizer treatments, essential oil diffusers, antibiotics, cough tablets, and lots of TLC had this little lady back on her feet in a few days time. As she started feeling better she started eating again, and finally pooped...yet her belly didnt get any smaller. :-) A visit to our favorite vet office for an ultrasound confirmed that Ms. Shadley is expecting 2-4 puppies right around Valentines Day! On ultrasound we were able to see strong 4 chamber hearts in the pups, and everything looks great! Pregnancy X-ray was too early to clearly identify skulls and spines for an accurate puppy count - but the vet assured us that Shadley is handling pregnancy well now that shes over her cold.
