Please join with other Buffalo students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community members next week in events re the #SchoolPushout crisis occurring both locally and nationally, as part of the 5th Annual National Week of Action Against School Pushout (suspensions and other discouragements that push struggling students out of school). More than 50 groups in 20 states are holding programs during the week. The Buffalo initiative, with 6 events over the week, includes a focus on Restorative Justice, Nonviolence, and practical help in dealing with legal issues. And please spread the word! *Mon Oct 6: Restorative Justice In-Service, Hamlin Park School 74, 4:00-6:00 PM (for Buffalo Public School Staff).Facilitated by the Erie County Restorative Justice Coalition. *Mon Oct 6: “Looking at Linkages: School Pushout and Militarism.” 6:30-8:00 PM. Includes veterans, community activists specializing in issues in education and militarism, and a report back from Ferguson. Discussion re school pushout/school-to-prison pipeline, military recruiting, police militarization, drones, and positive action planning. Merriweather Library.
