Please meet Jackie..She is 2 year 10 month old Shepard mix spayed female. She is a sweet and wonderful dog, but also a special needs dog. You see Jackie has a mild form of Canine epilepsy,which is well controlled with the medication phenobarbital. Since her diagnosis of epilepsy and being placed on medication she has only had two very short mild seizures lasting less than a minute. Jackie must find a new home as her military family, who has cared and loved her since she was a puppy, is being sent to Germany. Because of her epilepsy they fear for her safety during a long transatlantic flight and have had to make this heart breaking decision to find her a new forever home. This was an unexpected transfer to another country and they only have until mid September to make this miracle happen. Jackie loves people and especially children. She loves exercise and family activity but can also be calm while in the house. She is respectful of people and does not jump on them. She is house trained and when left alone unsupervised does not destroy home or yard. She rides in a car well, although probably not her favorite thing to do. We are hoping that someone can look past the very small part of Jackie life that is an epilepsy diagnosis and open their heart and home to provide her a new home. Jackie probably should be the only dog in the home as it is possible that other pack mates could attack Jackie should she have a seizure. For this reason we are desperately hoping that Jackie can find a home by mid September and not have to come to the Sanctuary.
