Please read and share: As Rebecca and I are going on our journey of open houses for Talia to send her for nursery, we have realized even more so now, that tuition for yeshivot are astronomical. If yeshivot are trying to get Jewish people to stop sending their children to yeshiva the rise of tuition is definitely helping! As much as there is a social and religious stigma of religious Jews sending their children to public school, at least these families are not in debt for the rest of their lives. I understand that teachers and rabbis need to get paid ( as I am a teacher myself) but the rise in tuition shouldnt have to be there to compensate for the secretaries and assistants that got the job to get a break in tuition which leaves more of the burden on parents! Its hard enough to pay the bills as it is, add $7,000-$9,000 for a base tuition just for nursery, how are we all supposed to strive out here in this world. We need to enjoy life with our children not spend our every penny and second trying to pay yeshivot for an education that many of us dont even get to see because we are too busy trying to make money for that yeshiva education. I believe we as a Jewish nation need to speak up and be proactive. Start registering (not necessarily send) our little ones to public school and hopefully yeshivot will get the picture that they will lose us in the end. We are already paying school taxes for a system we are not utilizing, maybe its time to utilize it. Take a stand to better our nation by not giving in to the craziness of yeshivot who charge so much just because they know they can. On this note: anyone who has sent or is currently sending to public school for nursery please let me know pros and cons. Thanks all!
