Please read the whole ad: Sonni aka Just Doolin J21 is a 5 year old gelding from the Madonna Inn breeding program with the Pick and Shovel brand. He was originally started and sold through the Horsemans Reunion as a western dressage prospect but ended up being too much horse for the owner. You may be familiar with the horses we normally sell and he just doesnt fit into this mold. He was owned by our apprentice who recently quit and left him here, so he is not one wed normally sell. This is a very sensitive horse that can not handle someone who grips with their legs and pulls on his face ...but I do have to give the horse some credit for not killing our novice apprentice when he probably had every right to (lol). He is a very trained horse; he has many maneuvers, spent several months in professional training before becoming the apprentices horse. He has done nearly everything you can think off on him. Weve heeled about 40 steers out of the box since the video was taken and he has potential as a heel horse, ranch roped many cattle and donkeys, started him on barrel pattern, crossed tarps and bridges, drug logs and tires, ridden him bareback, and has extensively trail ridden him down roads and in rough terrain (this is where he is best under saddle). He has done it all but like I said, he cannot handle a scared rider or one who over-uses his legs. Hell get on his butt to stop, moves all his parts, has smooth gaits, flex, etc. at one point he had a spin and flying lead change. He rides well in a hackamore, is calm and sensible in one. Although we normally dont use tie-downs when were not roping, if you ride with a bit in his mouth he does best with a tie down on at all times. He is not a head thrower but his brains will leak down his neck as soon as his head goes above level. He is currently being ridden by our assistant who is not a novice but not an expert either. This is NOT a bronc but he does need an experienced rider with consistency, soft legs and slow hands; one that will not just pick on him in the arena - he has a little anxiety cause by a scared rider trapping him. He does best when there is a job to do or riding out on the trail. Hes EXTREMELY gentle on the ground, easy to shoe - he will stand with his foot up for 6 hours allowing the apprentice to practice shoeing. He has great ground manners, easy to saddle, bathe, etc and very good with other horses in both a herd and a stall environment. In the herd he is bottom of the middle of the pack and in the stalls we use him as a buffer horse between mares and studs or two pissy geldings/mares because he doesnt fight with any one. Hes not one to rear or buck but he will freshen up if left in the pen for a while. He stands about 14.2hh and is quick footed enough for any task. He would be one to go cowboy / ranch on, any job or ride down the trail. 100% sound, you cant hurt him. Asking $1000 because this is not the type of horse that represents our program. Check out his video, if youre interested in him give me a text, private message or email. I would consider trades for things that dont eat. Located near Bakersfield, CA and shipping/delivery is available at buyers expense. Text/call 1-559-936-1633 or email mbarnes227@yahoo Video: youtu.be/tVQ2dW1ty_o
