Please remember that the 4pm burn law is now in effect. It lasts from February15th, 2014 through April 30th, 2014. No one may conduct open burning before 4pm. All burning must take place between the hours of 4pm and 12am. For any open burning that takes place, please remember that No fires may be left unattended. A violation of the 4pm burn law is a Class 3 misdemeanor punishable by up to a $500 fine. In addition to the criminal violation, those who allow a fire to escape are liable for the cost of suppressing the fire as well as any damage caused to other’s property. The only materials that are allowed to be burned are fresh woody debris, grass, leaves and vegetative waste. No trash, lumber, materials used in construction or demolition, or any other type of solid waste may be burned. Any company who wishes to conduct open burning or any individual who conducts open burning for a business related purpose must first receive a burn permit from the Wise County Litter Control Department.
