Please see Mrs. Roths letter in the Editorial section of the Plain Dealer May 8, 2014. Mrs. Roth feels strongly that we need to protect the babies we are trained to care for..... Those providing care for young children need to be vaccinated: Letter to the Editor on May 08, 2014 at 2:23 PM I am forwarding Michael Gersons May 4 article, Denying the good from vaccinations opens doors to harm, to an applicant to English Nanny & Governess School, who we regretfully had to deny admission and refund tuition deposits. On reviewing her application form, we discovered her immunization records were inadequate. Because she was home schooled, she had avoided public school required immunization. I explained that in the program, she would be caring for an infant. In reply she assured me she was in good health and took care of herself and that on-line proved she did not need to be vaccinated. When informed that unless she had current vaccinations she would not be accepted, she said she would get certification elsewhere to be a nanny. Although she promised me she would inform any parent hiring her, I do hope all parents employing caregivers for their babies and young children ask for proof of immunization. Sheilagh Roth, Chagrin Falls Roth is executive director of the English Nanny & Governess School.
